NEW ALBUM OUT SINCE NOVEMBER 24, 2011 :
“Sometimes A Girl Needs Some Sugar Too”
As new bass player for funk legend Prince Ida Nielsen has her hands full. But that hasn’t stopped the Danish musician from releasing her new solo album: “Sometimes A Girl Needs Some Sugar Too”.
“Sometimes A Girl Needs Some Sugar Too” shows Ida’s diverse repertoire:
Oldschool funk mixed with hiphop and Nusoul. Add to this a handful of beautiful pop inspired ballads. The result? Simple, sexy and cool tunes reaching beyond the passionate, limited fan base of the funk bass. New listeners and future fans can sign up here!
But make no mistake. This is the work of Ida the funky bass player – with a built-in passion for experiments and the heavy, masculine rhythm of the bass. “Sometimes A Girl Needs Some Sugar Too” is an album of depth and distinct sound that establishes Ida Nielsen as an artist who is here to make some noise. This is bass player meets songwriter meets instrumentalist meets producer. Yes, that’s right, Ida has produced her new album. Maybe Ida touring with Prince was always meant to be.
“Sometimes A Girl Needs Some Sugar Too” is an album of cheery confidence. Each track carries its own composition. Each track has its own attitude and feel. And yet, the album is a perfectly united sound piece paying tribute to funk. And you can’t fake the funk. This is authenticity, improvisation and intensity stripped down and ready to party.
And Ida has invited her friends along. Performing on the album is a musically hard hitting cocktail high on creativity counting fine names such as Shelby J, Yassin Nanga, Patrick Dorcean, Simon Bekker, Gullmai Salling Friis and Jacob Elvstrøm among others.’’
Yes. Sometimes a girl needs some sugar too. Especially when you can sweeten up your party life with compelling cool funk shaken and stirred with full-bodied ear hangers and topped with Ida’s sexy, teasing voice.
